The new motorway Maputo/ KaTembe/ Ponta do Ouro and the road section Bela Vista/ Boane travels along 192km subdivided in 109km and 63km, respectively.

The development of the new motorway was born from the opportunity of the construction of the new bridge Maputo/ KaTembe, the most wanted infrastructure for the region in the past decades and an essential element for Maputo’s South bank and also for the Mozambique’s Southern province economic growth and social progress.

The southern region of Maputo is a rough diamond of the tourism sector that may now be discovered and explored.

The new motorway has shortened time-travel for just 1 hour from the capital to the border. It allows the access to the Natural Park of the Elephants, to the idyllic beaches of the Indian Ocean as Ponta do Ouro close to South Africa’s border, and also the access to remote settlements as Porto Henrique.

The design project of the motorway also included several bridges to cross larger streams and rivers.

The new infrastructure has highway quality and comfort. In the first section the platform has 2x2 traffic lanes of 3.50m width and wider shoulders. The entire range of the motorway is paved with bitumen standard.
