Although deeply degraded in several areas, the three-story and attic building, with a roof characterized by its four turrets and a ridge cut out by the constant intersections of the protruding bodies, maintained its characteristic construction, both exterior and interior.
Its load-bearing walls, forming the divisions and central corridor and the profusely fenestrated facades, are made of limestone masonry and ceramic fragments, connected with hydraulic lime mortar. The floors are made of joists and wooden beams and pavements, supported by the resistant masonry walls.
The intervention consisted of the execution of new floors (in steel, in wet areas; in wood, in the rest) and/or reinforcement of existing ones; in the introduction of an elevator; in span reinforcements (by partial removal of existing walls, or widening existing openings) and in the reinforcement and remodeling of the roof.
The exterior balconies, in steel structure supporting ceramic brick domes, were recovered, maintaining the columns, replacing the corroded peripheral profiles, and remaking the domes with a reinforced concrete slab.
