New bridge inaugurated in Mozambique
Betar has contributed to the success of the project, which is vital for the transportation of people and goods.
The new bridge over the Save River was inaugurated on November 1 by His Excellency Filipe Nyusi, President of the Republic of Mozambique. Betar was responsible for reviewing the design of the structures and access roads, as well as monitoring the works.
The bridge is located on National Road 1 (N1), which is why it is essential for the transportation of people and goods by road between the north and south of the country. The new bridge has been designed in accordance with the most modern and demanding technical specifications.
In a statement issued by the Presidency of the Republic, it can be read that this is “an infrastructure of socio-economic importance, which allows the connection between the southern, central and northern regions of the country, through the provinces of Inhambane and Sofala”.
The Confederation of Economic Associations pointed out that this is an important project to boost the country’s economy, since, in addition to the unrestricted circulation of heavy vehicles, it will reduce the journey time from Maputo to Cabo Delegado by up to three days.
The old bridge, which was in an advanced state of disrepair, has also been rehabilitated through this project, and will be used for light traffic.
The work on the new bridge and the rehabilitation of the suspension bridge was overseen by Betar, with a resident technical team representing the Owner.
